Visiting CCV

Q. Will I fit in at CCV?
A. God takes people where they are on their journey.  CCV is filled with people of all backgrounds, and at all the various stages of their spiritual journey.  You can know that at CCV you will be welcome!

Q. What time do services start?
A. Our Sunday service starts at 10:20 AM.  You'll want to get there a few minutes early to grab a cup of coffee and a donut before you find your seat.

Q. Where does CCV hold Sunday worship services?
A. CCV meets at McKinley Elementary School at 1125 E Taft Avenue in the southeast corner of Appleton.  When you get to the school, you'll want to enter through the door on the west side of the building, immediately adjacent to the parking lot.  There will be signs pointing the way.

Q. What do I do once I arrive?
A. When you walk into the school, you will see banners, our Welcome Center, and sign-in tables for kids.  Someone will be there to greet you at the door and give you a bulletin.  We are friendly, but not high-pressure.  After the Welcome Center, keep walking into the school gynasium/auditorium.  We transform this space into a space for worship each and every Sunday.  Our goal is to help you connect with God, and - as you're ready - connect with other people.

Q. What is the worship like at CCV?
A. Our worship is contemporary and features a full band.  Each and every service is a little different, but our goal is to encounter God and all He has for us.  During the service you'll often find people clapping or raising their hands in an act of celebration for all God has done in their lives.  Sometimes people will come up to the front of the auditorium to pray.  However the Lord leads you to worship him is fine, whether it is to just pray quietly from your seat or to be more expressive in your worship.

Q. How should I dress?
A. The overall atmosphere at CCV is casual.  People dress comfortably, so put on whatever you feel comfortable wearing!   We use music, video, and other creative elements to communicate truth in a contemporary way.

Q. What happens with children on Sunday?
A. Children will stay in the service for most of worship and then be dismissed to their classes.  Our children's ministry is top notch and is designed to help nurture your child's faith.  Once a quarter we keep 1st grade and up in the service so they can participate with Mom and Dad in the entire worship experience.

Q. What does CCV believe about the ministry of the Holy Spirit?
A. At CCV we are hungry for more of God even as we insist that all things related to the Spirit be rooted firmly in the Word of God.  As such, we gladly embrace all the gifts and ministries of the Spirit while insisting that things be done "decently and in order" in the church.  At CCV you will experience people praying together and ministering to one another using their various gifts.  While we believe that all the gifts God would give by His Spirit are vital and good for the body, we do not believe that all believers will manifest the gift of tongues.  Our desire is to be built by the Spirit and rooted in the Word.
